War Machine 001 (also known as the JRXL-1000 Variable Threat Response Battle Suit) is the first armor given to James Rhodes, who used it to become War Machine. Originally Tony Stark's Mk 2 suit, the armor was taken by Rhodes and heavily modified by Justin Hammer with a variety of weapons and armor additions. Notably used during the Battle at Stark Expo, Stark later removed the modifications and reverted the armor to its Mark II state.
This is one of the most complex costumes that we've ever built. We included the mini gun, the machine gun gauntlets, and all the heavy mods from the movie. We ended up having to do a hybrid of EVA foam and 3D printed parts so that it wouldn't be too heavy or uncomfortable to wear, but wouldn't wear down or break so easily in high friction areas.
This client ordered the suit to be specially painted with heavy weathering and battle damage.
